First day checklist
Set up your new SlabBoard shop in the right order, from your company details to your crews' phones, so you can send your first quote.
Your shop comes with a starter price book, lead sources and two empty crews. A few settings are yours to fill in. Do them in this order and you can send a real quote on day one. Plan on about an hour.
Before you start
- You need the email from SlabBoard with the link to set your password. If you can't find it, see Troubleshooting.
- Only the Owner (or an Admin) can do steps 1, 4, 5 and 7.
1. Fill in your company settings
- Click your company name at the top of the menu, then Company settings.
- On the Company tab, add your address, phone, email, website and logo. Pick your Timezone.
- On the Quotes & taxes tab, set your Sales tax rate, Default waste, Default deposit and Quotes valid for. Read the Terms printed on quotes and edit them to match your shop.
- Click Save changes.
Important: Set the company Email. Customer emails are sent with your email as the reply-to address, so replies come to you.
Details in Company settings.
2. Check your price book
- Go to Settings → Price book.
- Change the prices of the starter edges, cutouts, sinks and services to your prices. Turn off anything you don't sell.
- Add anything missing with New price item.
3. Add your materials
New shops start with no materials. You can type a material name and price on each quote by hand, but picking from your list is faster and keeps prices consistent.
- Go to Inventory → Materials & colors and click New material.
- Add the colors you quote most, with Price / sq ft and, if you know it, Cost / sq ft.
4. Invite your team
- Go to Settings → Team and click Invite member.
- Enter each person's name, email and role. For templaters and installers, pick the Language they read best: English, Português or Español.
- Each new person gets an email to set their own password.
Every plan includes unlimited users. See Team members and roles.
5. Decide who sees prices
Templaters, installers and fabricators don't see job prices unless you allow it.
- Open Company settings → Team access.
- Turn on Show job prices to the field crew only if you want them to see contract amounts and balances.
6. Put people on crews
Your shop starts with Template Team and Install Crew 1, both empty. The field app only shows a templater or installer the visits of crews they belong to.
- Go to Schedule → Crews.
- Edit each crew and add its Members. Add more crews if you need them.
See Crews.
7. Turn on online payments (Pro and Premium)
If your plan includes online payments, go to Settings → Online payments and click Connect Stripe. See Online payments.
8. Get the field app on your crews' phones
- Have each templater and installer sign in on their phone. The field app address is your office address with /field in place of /app.
- Tap Install app to put SlabBoard Field on the home screen.
See Get started with the field app.
9. Send your first quote
- Go to Sales → Quotes and click New quote.
- Pick the customer, add the pieces and a material, and send it.
See Create a quote.
Good to know: You can also add your website lead form now, so web leads land in Sales → Leads. See Website lead form.
